Welcome the 2024 National World Language Honors Society Inductees
On Thursday, May 2, the Sierra Canyon Chapter of the French, Latin, and Spanish Honor Societies held their annual induction ceremony in the Upper Campus Library.
The event began with a warm welcome from Dr. Connor, Chair of the World Languages Department, addressing parents, faculty, and students. Mme. du Cos de La Hitte, Mr. Faulkner, and Mr. Llave then provided an overview of the histories of the French, Latin, and Spanish Honor Societies. Student officers detailed the induction process and the candle-lighting tradition, which honors the new inductees' dedication and exceptional achievements. To be eligible for induction, students must have a minimum of an A- in the target language for at least three Upper School semesters and a minimum of a B- in all other academic subjects. As inductees from all three societies received their certificates, they recited their respective Society's mottos and blew out their candles.
Special recognition was given to the following French Honor Society seniors who received cords to wear at graduation: Alishba A., Chance C., Hasen D., Emily F., Yi L., Tom L., Alexa P., and George Z.
